These are very common on the East coast I guess. I bought this one in a thrift store in Santa Barbara, California. I have heard of, and wanted a Victor mug for a few years. This was the first and only example I ever found. It is a promotional piece for Maxwell House Coffee and wish I had a picture of the other side. That is not to imply that these are particularly valuable. They are not. Very common. I sold this piece on Ebay for about $10 based on the value of the Maxwell House logo. Generally these are plain white and worth about a buck. And I really like the engraved backstamp on these. I have no idea how old this is or when they went out of business. There are products on the market marked Victor, but I do not believe they are from the same family.
What is distinctive about the Victor mug is it's profile. The gentle curve of the cup portion, the heavy handle...it is an important aesthetic design which was often copied by other manufacturers. I guess back east in the diners this is considered THE mug, or at least the shape of what a mug should look like. For example: I was in a Krispy Kreme in California recently and they sell promo coffee mugs with this distinct shape. But they are copies made and backstamped in China.
