Check out this baby made in 1951!!! Look at four o'clock. Roman numerals are supposed to be IV but they made the plate with IIII. Roman numeral illiterates!!! Hoping to make a better scan of this plate soon as it's in beautiful mint condition and I really enjoy looking at it. $15 at a mall in San Diego.
You can date Mayer China easily by the last two numbers on the back...that's the year. This one said 451 i.e. 19-51! Piece Of Cake.
